Description

Join New Moon Folk Club for their presentation of JigJam on Friday, March 20 at St. Basil's Cultural Centre, 10819 71 Avenue NW. Doors open at 6:30PM, performance begins at 7:30PM.

JigJam, an Irish bluegrass/Americana quartet, blends virtuoso Irish musicianship with the wide-open sounds of American folk and bluegrass. Founded in 2012 by Jamie McKeogh (lead vocals, guitar) and Daithi Melia (banjo, dobro), the band expanded in 2016 with Gavin Strappe (mandolin, tenor banjo) and later Kevin Buckley (fiddle). Known as “iGrass” (Irish Bluegrass), their music reimagines the roots of bluegrass, tracing it back to Irish traditions.
In March 2023, JigJam made their Grand Ole Opry debut to a sold-out crowd, earning a standing ovation and sharing the stage with legends like Garth Brooks and Steve Earle. Their energetic, foot-stomping performances and infectious melodies have earned them acclaim as “Ireland’s answer to New Grass Revival.” With a sound that bridges continents and generations, JigJam continues to captivate audiences worldwide, proving that bluegrass has truly come full circle.
