Join New Moon Folk Club for their presentation of John Hewitt & the New Americans on Friday, January 23 at St. Basil's Cultural Centre, 10819 71 Avenue NW. Doors open at 6:30PM, performance begins at 7:30PM.

John Hewitt is a multi-talented musician and storyteller whose artistry transcends boundaries. Hailing from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and now based in Alberta, Hewitt has carved a unique niche in the Western music scene. Drawing inspiration from legends like The Beatles, Bob Dylan, and Neil Young, he blends folk, rock, and Americana into a sound that feels both timeless and fresh. Known for his prolific output, Hewitt releases multiple albums each year and performs over 150 shows annually, touring across Canada and the U.S.
A master of storytelling, Hewitt’s music is a poetic journey through life’s complexities, delivered with raw authenticity. Whether fronting his band, The New Americans, or performing solo, his live shows are immersive experiences that leave audiences captivated. His dedication to his craft is unmatched, earning him recognition as one of the hardest-working musicians in Alberta. With a dream as vast as the landscapes he traverses, John Hewitt continues to inspire, innovate, and connect through his music.

First Set: Benjamin N S Williams

Benjamin Williams is a professional musician and entertainer based in Edmonton, whose robust voice and eclectic repertoire has resonated from the stages of Canmore Folk Festival and Big Valley Jamboree, all the way to your local neighbourhood watering hole. His career began with classical guitar studies in 2004, winning numerous scholarships and accolades in the years that followed. As an entertainer, his most notable accomplishments include, but are not limited to: 1st Place Winner in Parkland's Got Talent (2014), and Rising Star Award nominee at the 2017 Edmonton Music Awards. Benjamin released his self-produced debut EP as a solo artist, Handshake To The World to critical acclaim among fans and peers alike in both digital and physical form. Now a performer on the local circuit, there’s a good chance you’ll catch him at a club or farmers’ market near you!

Student admission is only available for full-time students, and youth aged 13-17. Valid Student ID may be requested at the door.

Children aged 12 and under receive free admission at the door

No physical or electronic tickets will be provided. You will need to have your order confirmation ready at the door.

Free parking is available on-site. ETS routes 9 and 701 are within a 5-minute walk.
