Join A Joyful Noise Choir for the Joyful Noise Gala on Saturday, May 31, starting at 4:00PM, at All Saints' Anglican Cathedral (10035 103 St NW)
A Joyful Noise (AJN) choirs will perform the world premiere of Canadian composer Stephanie Martin’s “Every Voice: A Cantata for Inclusive Singing” at a Gala Concert on May 31, 2025.
Specially commissioned by AJN to mark its 20th anniversary, the cantata was written by Ontario-born Stephanie Martin who is highly respected nationally and internationally as a composer, conductor, and professor of music. The piece has four movements of varying degrees of difficulty – one for each of the Joyful choirs and one for all to sing together – and includes texts written by Joyful Noise choir members Lori Stewart and Kisha Supernant.
AJN CEO & Artistic Director Roderick Bryce notes “Every Voice” has special meaning at a time of growing polarization in society. When we come together to sing, we break down barriers and build bridges. We celebrate what unites us – as a community, a nation, and indeed the world. Such is the power of choral singing.
A Joyful Noise is excited to share this work and believes it will appeal to many other choirs across the country. AJN is inviting special guests to hear the premiere firsthand – including conductors from the choral community, and AJN alumni from the past 20 years.
In addition to the cantata, the Gala Concert will include music such as Joseph Haydn’s “Little Organ Mass” and “Salve Regina in E” with guest soprano Jodi Penner.
