Join the Don Berner Big Band for their concert, The Don Berner Big Band and the Get Downs: Men of Motown Revisited, on Saturday, June 21 at 7:30 PM at the Triffo Theatre (#11-130, 11110 104 Avenue NW, MacEwan University).

The Get Downs are one of Edmonton’s favourite retro party bands (formerly the “Men of Motown”). A 10-piece soul, rhythm and blues ensemble, The Get Downs bring a one-of-a-kind show to any event. The DBBB Teamed up with this powerhouse ensemble in the big band’s 2nd season to a packed house! Now, due to demand, the Get Downs are back! The tight knit vocal harmonies, high energy entertainment, and vintage beats with modern heat will have the audience shaking with excitement! TWO rhythm sections! FOUR singers! 13 horn players! What more could you ask for in a season closer that’s as much a party as a show? This project is supported by the Edmonton Arts Council, the City of Edmonton, and the Edmonton Downtown Business Association.

The Don Berner Big Band is the city of Edmonton’s flagship large jazz ensemble. An Edmonton jazz favourite for over a decade, the Don Berner Big Band became the first professional large jazz ensemble in Edmonton to have a fully programmed concert season in 2021. Featuring Edmonton’s best jazz musicians, the Don Berner Big Band presents an eclectic season drawing from classic big band and swing repertoire, collaborations with contemporary and pop artists, adaptations of works from other mediums, and more with a variety of special illustrious guests, all presented in the acoustically stellar Triffo Theatre in Downtown Edmonton!

Paid parking is available on-site. The MacEwan Station on the Metro LRT Line, ETS Routes 7, 8, 110X, and 500X, StAT Routes 201 and 208, Spruce Grove Transit Route 560, and Strathcona County Transit Routes 401, 411, and 413 are within a 5-minute walk.
