The artists will present a collaborative singer-in-the-round concert where they will explore and celebrate the music of Folkways by presenting new interpretations of traditional folk songs as well as their original songs to expand the tradition.

The Women of Folkways concert is produced by Dana Wylie. The artist line-up is:
Maria Dunn: A true preserver of the spirit of folk music, 2022 Juno recipient Maria Dunn is often compared to Woody Guthrie for her keen social awareness and unvarnished melodic songs about ordinary people. Her latest album Joyful Banner Blazingcelebrates resilience, grace, gratitude, solidarity, joy and the love that fires our actions to make the world a better place.

Kym Gouchie: With ancestral roots in the Lheidli T’enneh Cree and Secwépemc Nations, Kym Gouchie is fostering change through her music and art. Her stories are a testament to the human spirit, weaving together threads of her own journey from personal tragedy to triumph.

Riwo Egor: Riwo is a Nigerian born singer/songwriter. She is the lead vocalist of the band Melafrique but also performs as a solo artist. She is passionate about sharing messages and personal stories through music, and believes in the power of music to heal wounds and connect people.

Fawn Wood: On her journey of life, Fawn has developed a style of song that mimics her relationship with her people, herself, her family and her community. She is confident to show her strengths and not afraid to express weaknesses. Fawns songs have reached #1 on the iTunes new release music chart and #14 on Billboard’s World Music Chart.
